Mission

The Mission of Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center is to empower students and families from diverse backgrounds to be healthy and active citizens through organic gardening, environmental stewardship, and nutrition education. Our Vision is to reconnect students and families to the natural environment through food, education and community engagement.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for our special events.  Your time and energy will help provide nutrition education, organic gardening, environmental stewardship programs to children, adults and families from National City and San Diego County.

Seedling Soirée
May 20th,2017

The Seedling Soirée is a celebration of the new and future growth of our garden and nutrition education center.  This special culinary feast in the Garden features local chefs and vintners with a unique menu showcasing the best of San Diego County’s organic and sustainable produce.

Day of Play
July 15th, 2017, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

The Day of Play is a fun event for children and their families who participate in activities that include hands-on gardening, hands-on cooking, chef demonstrations, healthy foods tasting stations, a special garden scavenger hunt, physical activity stations throughout the garden, plus basketball, potato sack races, egg-spoon races, and hopscotch.  The purpose of Day of Play is to educate the community about the connections between food and health.
